"The music was new black polished chrome And came over the summer like liquid night. The DJ's took pills to stay awake and play for seven days They went to the studio And someone knew him Someone knew the TV showman
He came to our homeroom party and played records And when he left in the hot noon sun and walked to his car We saw the chooks had written F?U?C?K on his windshield He wiped it off with a rag and smiling cooly drove away He's rich. Got a big car.
My gang will get you Scenes of rape in the arroyo Seduction in cars, abandoned buildings Fights at the food stand The dust the shoes Open shirts and raised collars Bright sculptured hair.
Hey man, you want girls, pills, grass? C'mon... I show you good time. This place has everything. C'mon... I show you."

I was surprisingly impressed with the movie about the doors. Val Kilmer as Jim.
Good band. Jim Morrison was a mad man.

I love the doors, but jim morrison wrote some of the worst poetry this world has ever seen.
- blackspade0
yet to see that movie actually!
be interesting to see how andre 300 takes on the role of Jimi also
so whos got some mp3s etc, ive been lookin round for some interviews with Jim, there is an interview CD out there
- blackspade0
interesting opinion, i love his poetry
- toastie0
His songs are ok, but i was at a friend's house and he had a book of unpublished poems by jim morrison in his bathroom and it was truly terrible. It was like a 13 year old in angst, tripping on acid.

Jim: – but in some cases, a person's infatuation with violence involves a secret complicity with his oppressors. People seek tyrants. They worship and support them. They co-operate with restrictions and rules, and they become enchanted with the violence involved in their brief, token rebellions.
Lizzie: But why is that?
Jim: Tradition, maybe – the sins of the fathers. America was conceived in violence. Americans are attracted to violence. They attach themselves to processed violence, out of cans. They're TV - hypnotized – TV is the invisible protective shield against bare reality. Twentieth-century culture's disease is the inability to feel their reality. People cluster to TV, soap operas, movie, theatre, pop idols, and they have wild emotion over symbols. But in reality of their own lives, they're emotionally dead.

i'm sorry, blackspade, i mean no disrespect, but this stuff is so trite. If you're interested in what he said, read the people that he is paraphrasing.
- toastie0
his music's great though.
- blackspade0
no disrespect man, each to his own, tis only music
"read the people that he is paraphrasing"

im a snake...in the house of love isnt one!
- toastie0
well, i'm just saying that there's better bits of americana out there. Most of them i'm sure you're familiar with, but nonetheless, you should read most of William S. Burroughs,
Jack Kerouac, Allen Ginsberg
Hunter Thompson and for a broader scope, Aldous Huxley
Guy Debord and Carlos Castaneda

k glad im not alone here on the american prayer album , i really enjoy it
cheers gpop for the recomendations
