Anyone have a reason to use Flash rather than Javascript for a drop-down menu.
Being only a nav menu, they both will have almost 0 load time.
Both easy to code/design although Flash is a little prettier.
Most all browsers support both...

If you use Flash your movie height has to be as high as the menu is going to drop down - takes up more real estate on the page, especially depends on how many sub menu items you have.
Other than that can't think of much.

ease of updating? whoever you're building the nav for may have a preference...

I've used JavaScript, Flash and XHTML/CSS for navigation and for reasons of practicality, prefer XHTML/CSS.
It's easier to update than Flash and it performs more consistantly across browser/platform situations than JavaScript.
There's a good example here:

you can do more intricate things with Flash imo

the accessibility is there for the js version (if done certain ways). as far as i know flash's accessibility is still not happening as well as needed for some sites.

that example is buggy, franko. It takes about 1 second, every time a drop down appears, for the bg to load.

Fate, regarding the bug--
IE doesn't support the :hover class, and I should have shown this link first:
