Since we're on the subject of bonuses, might as well discuss the ever-popular office xmas party. This will be the first time I've ever attended an office xmas party that wasn't at a hole in the wall bar or in the boss's backyard. This one is going to be at some nice ass hotel at Lake Las Vegas. Supposed to get bonus there PLUS it's OPEN BAR! But I can't get as liquored as I want to. This hotel that the party is at is about a 50-60 minute drive from where I live and that's a long ass drive. It would end up being like a $70 cab ride.
Anyone else attending holiday shindigs? and is it safe to assume that house parties are better than office parties? The only thing I'm looking fwd to is seeing the hot office girls in some skimpy cocktail dresses. They've been talking shit about each other and how they're going to look better than the next girl... mix that with some bourbon and it's bound to be a good time!

The first real office holiday party i went to was as a jr designer at usa today. me and my new gf (now my wife) huffed a j on the drive over and she thought i just worked at this little newspaper. ends up being 1500 people, receiving line with the execs, quasi-celebs like larry king and tom brokaw, and there we are, two stoners bum rushing the bar, me in my suit and combats, her in a revealing mini...best of all we found this "secret" bathroom (you know, push on the wall and a door pops open) gilded fixtures and crystal, we get in, start laughing and screwing around, pop back out and there are twenty big shots just waiting to see who was gonna exit...it was a total hunter s. thompson experinece.
Have fun and leave the driving to trained professionals.

i got a party to go to tomorrow night. hopefully they will hand out our bonuses too!

ours was last night. the school of rock played, the real kids that the movie was based on. i have to say they were pretty good, these 12 year old punks wailing on gutiar like i never will. plus open bar and free dinner. all in all a good time.

we're not having a party this year. so many schedules throwing it off.
My first year at this place, I brought a friend who gets a little loud and belligerent when he's had a few. He has been banned from all work functions, probably for saying "oh you KNOW she munches carpet" about the bosses wife.
Then the year after that, we had ninja wine stewards at the restaurant the party was at. On an empty stomach, that was not good. I didn't realize that i drank a lot more than i did because my glass always seemed filled. i must just be sipping. later in the evening i think i had to run to the bathroom three times to vomit (the projectiling kind).
Last year was great though. :\

my gf's company party takes place on the 23rd at rive downtown chicago. it's going to be nuts. they have rented girls to be body painted as angels. attire you are supposed to wear white. either i'm going in all black, or my tighty whiteys with white sneakers. fuck em.
she works for the #2 gym chain in illinois so the only problem is that there is going to be a bunch of roid heads on the dance floor trying to bench press each other.

don't worry about getting home and why don't you think about hooking up with one of the girls in the office? then stay at the hotel!!my office party was at a new club called AER in manhattan. it was okay, though we have many hot girls in the office, the office rumor is something i can't deal with. so i had a few drinks then hit off with friends to get really drunk at somewhere elese.

Gotta love roidheads everywhere you go... especially when they wear those tight club shirts that hug their distended growth guts.
I thought about that tkmeister, but I'm the same way. I don't want those stares when I come into work on Monday morning. I think I'm going to do the same thing you did. Just throw back a few, then head west and meet up with some friends elsewhere. I'll report tomorrow (if it's worth it).
