Hey All,
I work with an internal web team for Virgin Blue Airlines Australia. We're currently looking at ways to improve the clutterness of our front page.
Please have a look and throw some tips. Also let me know what you think of the front page design in general.

erm.. you have an aeroplane with a rudolph nose and antlers being bummed by santa.

It's to...niah! :) i feel like i visited homer simpsons website with all those things on one page.

It's all over the place. Needs a big re-think.

everything is really unpersonal. looks like all ads but i guess theyre not. put in some real pictures of friendly air stewardesses or something. also, that top line of banners can be moved to the bottom of the page. and all moving shit needs to go imo.
the site bas no character, very business like and very unfriendly. id limit your color palette as well.

I'd fire yourself and get the company to hire http://www.37signals.com/ to do it.

Hey Fixate, I was just noticing the other day that you guys had updated your front page. I likes it much more than the old. And the map thing is really useful too.
I've got a few suggestions, but I'm sending you an email with a pic...

sort of what raspo said..
it looks like Santa with a giant red flying johnson with a deerhead on top of it..
- DutchBoy0
the type is messy though.. it's like all over in a ton of sizes and leadings etc..
you should really minimalize the use of different typesettings and shit..

Take some of the stuff off the home page = less clutter.
Put a nice pitures of the attractive 20 something air host Women & Men that are all over your print add's and presto a nice site.

You could start with loosing the "PARTNERS & FEATURE PRODUCTS" off the home page. Domestic travelers just want to know how much it's going to cost to get from A to B and feel good about the people they will be flying with. All this extra stuff lead people away from their main goal of being on your site. Focus the design on the primary function of the site. Email me if you want to chat further.

The primary colours makes it feel a little cheap. That being said, I think you have a solid structure to work with. Tone down the palette and make the both the buttons on the bottom and the nav a little less over the top (too kid like)and I think it'll be real sharp. (avoid ever putting blue and red beside each other as in the nav rollover).

nosaj, I think the idea of Virgin Blue is to be cheap... and their colour scheme is probably quite deliberate to project that image...
this reflects their service onboard which is reealy cheap. no really.

That is absolutely the most dreadful website I've ever seen. Please never design another website again.

too much shit moving and flashing - looks like a fruit machine in an english pub. Or a "puggy" for any Scottish readers.
Get the main body under the blue band for a start. Get rid of Santa - I don't believe in him. You can be festive without that bearded paedo intruding.
Scrap the Flash menu, it's brutal.
In fact, let me do the redesign. Full website, to you, from me, a Xmas gift - I'll finish it today for £20.
