Hi all,
Got an external HD - usb 2.0, but my Windows pc (xp home) has 1.1 so I get the msg: "You are plugging a Hi Speed 2.0 device into a USB 1.1 port. Speeds will be slower"
Is it possible to upgrade my usb 1.1 port to usb 2.0 with a driver?/software?

i don't think so. it's really a hardware issue. if you're going to upgrade hardware why not go for firewire?

you should be able to get a USB 2.0 PCI card...plug it in and let her rip.

elms, I got SP1. I haven't downloaded SP2 yet.
Rabattski, no we didn't eat there :( got the menu of a friend (he stole it???). Walk a lot of km - felt like a real tourist with my map in one hand and our camera in the other.
Trying to make a Berlin city impression with After fx - premiere - director. Been a while since I used the programs, though. Got the external HD for these reason btw.
Heard from the guy at Solebox we need to come to Berlin in January again (Bread & butter), but I think the summer edition would be better for tan.

allright. shame you haven't been there. maybe next time? yeah those menu's get stolen quite a lot. i think they have a stamp on it now with a price if you want it :)
yeah happened to me as well when i moved over here. still had this amsterdam concept of everthing is in walking distance. walked miles and miles. berlin is quite big though.
solebox is a cool store. which one have you been too? they have two stores. you should check out their site which is actually quite nice (http://www.solebox.de/)
bread & butter is nice to check out collections from lesser known brands. summer is better than winter but the location is a sauna then. but also has outdoor stuff going on. and it's easier to gatecrash at the summer edition :)

i don't know if your external hd has firewire but if so i would opt for firewire. lot faster than usb 2. especially firewire 800.

USB 2 is hardware, no software will ever give you faster USB 1.

ladyvipb, I was afraid of that. I am now in the cruel world of windows updating/patches/upgrade/restart I feel like one of the teletubbies, again, again.
Rabattski, we went to both solebox and trainer. Talk to kismet? the owner. Anywayz, I am going back to my usb problem. Guess I am gonna crash my pc in seconds now ;)
