well Mr. 'i wrote a whole magazine' how do you feel about his art? do you respond to it? what do you think it contributes to contemporary art? what do you learn about him through his art?
- tuig0
in graphic design the designer(author) can use his client as a vessel to portray his message.so infact mogwai, this is an artform way more intersting than so called fine art where the artist is ghettozid in his little subcultural world.
the desinger nowadays is in a nideal positon because he stand on the border of communitaty,as an observer but he is also very active in it.
i had extensive talks about his with my old literature reacher.for example..painting...
in my old academy the way painting is thougt is very old--its still where cezanne is--now a fellow designer of mine maded an interactive painting program..that he showed the painters..they where very conserative and totally not open minded by it.that 's what i mean by ghettosized.
the future is in fact in the applied arts...what hi-res does,or others it think its marvellous..but hey what do i know i'm a baby...

and the problems here is?

what a classic sense about art you have..what do i learn from it.
art can only a sensoric experience..well i look at for ex his sculptures the way i look at a painting of theo van doeswijk or malevitch.i'm intrigued..

besides the magazines were my graduation project
- mogwai0
and intrigue is enough for you? thats all you want from art? just a visual intrigue?
"in graphic design the designer(author) can use his client as a vessel to portray his message.so infact mogwai, this is an artform way more intersting than so called fine art where the artist is ghettozid in his little subcultural world."
but the message is not his message more ofthen than not, it is the client's message unfortunately. "buy this product" is usually the message.

his work is in fact very modern, meaning a ablance between lines colours and shapes--
and in that fact he is a nice relief from all the postmodernistic art nowayadays, were the working process is more important than than final work-like jenny holzer.
- mogwai0
see i feel like his work is very much about process, material. and also very much about final product. but to me this is more interior design, architecture (which is where his background is).
- tuig0
not entirely.
for example re-magzine
http://www.re-magazine.com/the fact that you have to communicate something can be quite as intersinting.
- Mimio0
This is the kind of formalistic & pointless artwork that gets produced when plurality and free-validity become the discourse of the art field.
Nobody get's it, and the artist cannot communicate clear objectives or messages. It's just pretentious and devoid.
- tuig0
why can't this be art than, mogwai?
for example, i make videoclips, and i try to come to a shared vieuw with the artist(singer) its always a mix of the 2,i consider this 'art' bacaus of teh two worlds collidng, and even its a very commercial enterprise, its says more to me than al those artists that live on tehis little islands and think art is pain and struggel(and belive me,due to my academy background,i know lots of them)
- tuig0
pardon me english,i editing at the same time..for coca cola;the red devil-giant ;)
- tuig0
mimio, youre right but thats a post modernistic vieusw on art.
i've you look at it modernistic its different.
- mogwai0
tuig, but that is the difference between fine art and graphic design. that you have to convey a message. and this obiously suits your needs much more than fine art, and that is fine.

I find a lot of his work lovely, despite the fact that I was too stupid and/or impatient to fully grasp the navigation
- mogwai0
why cant what be art? i never said anything is not art. i just said i dont respond to it.
- tuig0
i respect your opinion but thats mine,i tend to look at more grey, the overlapping is to much..
where to you put john maeda?or sagmaister or luc deleu?
- fernando0

- tuig0

- tuig0
