Is there a way to connect 1 set of computer speakers to 2 different machines at the same time?

sure. just split the plus and minus cables.

You could plug the output of one computer into the input of the other.

or you could get an adaptor from your local electronics shop. I think it pretty much does what rabattski suggested without cutting the wire.

yup. hiphoprelic beat me to it. i have on of those for the exact same purpose... AND, when i took my ibook on my vacation my gf and i plugged both our headphones into it and listened.

It's all about splitters and adapters.
I use one of these to port my PC out to my stereo....
