Hi, I am a graphic designer, and I am building my website. I was having a professional copywriter rewrite the "about me" page, which is the home page of my site. This person wrote parts of my resume and I was like wow! when I read it, and wow! when I got job offers and interviews days later. Here's the deal, for the web page she/he wants me to list them as "affiliate copywriter" or place"need copywriter? click here" and link them.
My only concern, is it going to seem weird if some client reads a page of "who I am" and then sees that it was very obviously that a copywriter did it for me. Clients should now that I am there to do graphics not to write stuff, but are they going to think that I am not sincere... or something like that... ???

no, I wouldn't worry about it.
- gruntt0
change the title from "about me" to "about the artist" or similar
- nick0
good question! i like gruntt's suggestion.
- canuck0
As long as there isnt some big add on your site that is listing there services. couldnt you just put in your contact section,
writing/copy
mr. jones
email etc. It's good to have strong writing on your site, I hate sites with poor copy. I don't think it works against you to pay someone to do this. More sites should hire professional writers.

gruntt nailed it
- mr_snuggles0
sorry, but i disagree with gruntt, I find it corny when it's obviously a one-person studio and the title is written in the third-person..
- canuck0
yeah, about the artist kinda sounds like your some pretentious wad.
- Point50
I'm with grunnt also... You'll still probably have to explain that to X% of clients because they don't know the difference between illustration, php and packaging design in the first place, so how the hell would they understand the specifics of copywriting. All they know about copywriting is on a subliminal level that makes them buy boxes of rice pilaf and Diet Snapple....
- mr_snuggles0
ok, now I'm just confused??

Not all great designers are great copy writers.
Designers always work with copy writers at agencies. It's good to have a solid writing, but if you can't, I don't think it's a big deal to let others write for you.
- gruntt0
ok there has got to be some middle ground here. How about this? Change the title to
"About Me - A non-pretentious wad of an artist - Written By Willy Johnson"
- mr_snuggles0
exactly, tk nailed it. It shows professionalism more than anything...
- mr_snuggles0
"about" that's all you f'n need.
- Point50
or "click here to view a drawn out bells and whisltes garnished resume and biography about me that was written by somebody else"
- lara0
what's your url?
www?
- canuck0
I'll be honest about sections are a lot of shite anyway. just put down your services, a past client list. and a link to your resume. thats all the information I want to know about you.

what copywriter asks for a copywriting credit on a site? Did you pay them? What about a credits page?

i think its a +1 if people do know that you had a copywriter do some work for you, lets people know that you don't think you can do EVERYTHING and that you aren't afraid to hire talent to get the job done right.
- mr_snuggles0
But it's only a +1 if jevad awards it.
- DutchBoy0
change it to:
About me, the copywriter [link]
:P
