Then they're going to keep losing viewers as there's more competition, that's far more entertaining... Thank the Lord for Sky..

BBC up North, I agree the BBC needs move forward what with all the advances in technology and diverse ranges of media available shaking off that London/Capital image wouldn't be a bad idea, as we northerners also pay for it, we should have a bit more to say and the best news is more work for Harry Gration!!
Sorry Yorkshire BBC joke!!

thats one thing the bbc can't be accused of. In fact it's actually the opposite, one of the main concerns is bbc.co.uk has too much power over commercial enterprises.
I just hope this doesn't affect the things we have been hearing about the bbc plans for its media player, digital rights and it's content library?

No, I meant in the broader sense, socially. Sorry my post didn't really come across to well I think the BBC Interactive services are really good and the web, but the BBC is our country's cultural leader in a sense, across Europe and the world so having believe in that at home will help.

BBC interactive TV is excellent. One of the best out there.

You have to look at the bigger picture here - for 50 years the BBC has been at the forefront of television, but with all things the competition has increased significantly, from 4 channels, to 5 and now an absolute plethora of channels so cost cutting and downsizing is inevitable. They have already outsourced their failed BBC Technology department to Siemens because it wasn't making any money and costing them more and more in failed projects.
The big issue here is

Despite alot of kudos for the website, it really is only news, weather and sport that most people look at. what about all this other content that they seem to sideline to that left side under 'browse'?

thats the stuff they are going to be shutting down or cutting back on.
the stuff that is catered for eleswhere.

ha yeah I know. I'm embarassed for him sometimes, the way Linekar and Hanson and Lawson all ignore him and talk over him. It's quite amusing

not sure if this has been said but although the bbc are moving away from being london centric ITV now has no local region requirements..

keep us posted vespa.
i have always had a great deal of respect for the BBC. I have not seen any broadcast giant bringing such a variety in tv and radio.
Not to mention the late John Peel! (RIP)
