I presume that you mean classical to be old, or not modern, so I suppose that excludes anything after 1830 or so?
Or do you mean classicical as historical, ie, Roman/Greek myths that were popular at Parisian Salon's during the 1700's and 1800's?
Anyway, as I reckon you mean old rather than historical
I think Rehmbrandt's flippin' ace!

i've spent hours staring at this painting (it's in DC)
and this has got to be my favorite in town:

it's huge, nearly 10 feet tall and like a punch in the face

I can't find anything on a mirror that Alphonse Mucha did. It was huge, at least 10' tall and 15' wide. I remember standing in front of it in absolute awe (at the frame, not my reflection :P). Tears came to my eyes.
I've also had a fascination with this print by Aubrey Beardsley since i first saw it.

Gerhard Richter -- saw his stuff in SF in 2003. it was crazy to see it in real life. seeing it in books just doesnt do it justice. i love all his stuff and you can see some of it http://www.sfmoma.org/richter/ht… there.
