well.. sketch out a layout in photoshop (scale 1:1) for one page.
when you are happy with it, work out this layout in DW, BBedit or whateva you use. (try to work as much with divs/css as possible, img's only take loading time)
make it as clean and tight as possible (and usable), and do not put TOO much energy in it, she wanted it "over the weekend" in the first place.

dutchy, you are the man, not that i wasn't going to do this anyway, i've built a few sites and have been doing freelance for a bit.
it's not that i don't know how or where to start, just that it always helps to learn how other may approach a project like this....
