I need to buy a simple 3D application. I've download the Strata 3D CX trail version. Its easy to use and does nice renderings. It also have this plug-in to export as vector ( that is a must ). the modeling tools are good enought for what I need. The price is $695 plus the vector filter $139.
I was woundering, what about Swift 3D? Is it really good? Does it do the job, is it easy to use. Tehy dont have any demo version, so I really dont know what to do!!
Some sugestions guys?

Swift 3D is a super simple program and has (surprise) become a very good modeler program, but don't expect it to do pixar-level stuff.
It's an entry-level program aimed at Flash designers who want the quickest and easiest way to design 3d content.
I use it a lot but it's no substitute for Maya or 3DS Max.
Strata would be just above swift in capabilites, but the learning curve is much steeper.

So you would say the money difference is worght? between strata and swift3D...

it just depends on what your priorities are.
if you want super easy 3d content, swift 3d is a bargain.
but if you need more advanced content, strata may be worth its $695 price tag or whatever it costs.
I'd personally use swift or save up and buy Maya 3D. Maya is teh greatest thing since sliced bread. but ooooohhhh its pricey.

Thanks for your answer. I have another question:
Can I export easly from swift3D to Illustrator? Because it looks like the application is more optimized to flash...and they only mention about importing from Illustrator!!

yeah, swift3D should export to Illustrator. I only have the 3dsMAX plugin, and that can export to an .ai file, i dunno about the standalone. In any case, you can always import .swfs into Illustrator.
Also, try wings3d for modelling, it's a wonderful open source modeling program

XSI Foundations is only $500 and EXTREMELY powerful, easily on par with Maya, arguabley moreso. i personally find it much easier to use than any other package. check it out at www.softimage.com

yeah, try the free version of XSI, it's still very powerful and good to get started with. I highly recommend the aforementioned wings3d, although it's only a modeller.

I'll second the Softimage suggestion. It's really a steal and they are basically giving it away (for $500) to take some of the freelance market away from Max and Maya. They will succeed, imo.
Great program, great price.I'd also look at Cinema 4D XL which you can buy in modular pieces as you need things.

swift 3D is a great bit of software. coming from no 3d experince at all i found it very easy to get it, the tutorials that come with it are really good. i was modeling cars within a week.
