never knew rugby (union & league) & cricket were world wide sports. as i can remember in the cricket world cup only 4 teams had a realistic chance of winning (AUS, IND, PAK & SA) and in rugby union it's similar with (AUS, NZ, SA & ENG), and shane warne what a role model. and don't start me on league world cup. And shane warne what a role model! i'm sure there realy sick of us. last time i looked soccer (football) was the only sport that could truly say it had a world cup.

the only bad thing about living in australia is australians sportsmanship.
- embarko0
exactly! shane warne seems to be able to get away with anything, because he's a 'aussie larakin', what a joke!

absolutely serious now, is the world perception of aus one of absolute lack of culture and only sport, much like our perception of the US for example is one red neck christian voters?
- Chickenhands0

like your website by the way. I have a mate who lives in Queens park. Not a Queens Park Ranger, but a Chelsea fan, poor sod (although at the moment he's happy)

As a Brit living in Aus (for a year). Australians are culture vultures. Because England and Europe has so much 'culture' we take it for granted. Here, as soon as anything cultural happens it sells out within hours.
I was in melbourne to see the Musee Dorssey (sp?) exhibition and the cue was 4 hrs long.
Dont beleive the stereotype. You do take your sport far too seriously though.

it's okay to be good at sports, but be humble! the australian cricket team is the worst offender. they are the biggest mouths and bad sports i've seen.
as the radiohead song goes 'karma police...'

Was just about to say the same about your work robbob, good stuff. Nice to have a little mutual appreciation moment.
Thumbs up
- embarko0
and i lived here (aus) my whole life and love sport.

I love it when Brits pass opinions on Australia, after being there for oh, a whole fucking year.
Best get myself off too the 'musee dorsay' then for a bit of culture eh?

i think that's a pretty accurate observation from kezza. actually i like that about aus, everyone talks about whatever show is on and EVERYONE goes, whereas in london there's so much stuff that you never end up seeing anything. i think a lot of aussies have a bit of a complex about this "lack of culture" stereotype, and get both very defensive about it whilst simultaneously craving acceptance from the rest of the world.

Australia is the same as most cities around the world, generally the people in the big cities aren't reflective of the rest of the population. Look at London, for example.
In Sydney and Melborne there is always so much going on, either film or art and such. Felt there was much more going on that over in London (also it was easier and cheaper to do those things too..)
