A friend only has dial up and cannot afford bband yet. So would onspeed help that mutha out or is it a bit of a con?. Does anyone know anyone that has used it or is using it with a chirpy happy face. Cheers Chosserator.

I've thought about them too - however I think the sting in the tail is this: it basicly routs the pages you want through it's server and re-optimises jpgs / gifs and then outputs them to your pc a lot 'lighter' but looking worse. I can imagine it'd be great for your average Internet user but for Designers - I'm dubious.

a guy at work had it here. has had all sorts of problems...the most bizarre being when the OnSpeed app itself doubled in size everytime it opened. it reached 4GB before he realised. the performance increase isn't that great either, and the pages do look slightly funny.
not good.

Using Firefox with a few of the hidden preferences enabled might help.
Search the PVN for Firefox or Hacks.

cheers guys I managed to find an article by a computer review type person and they said the same that it reduces the quality of the pictures you are viewing etc. because it re compresses them.
Thanks again for the info.
