Is there a way to clone objects in Illustrator? Like move, but then also multiply the object?

select the object you want to move, hit enter/return, and the move dialogue box comes up. there should be a button for 'copy'. then you can just hit command+d to repeat the action.

Well, I know that, but what I ment was like this: start with 1 object; after the move/copy step there are 2 more objects (the original one + the 2 'clones'), move/copy again > there are 5, etc...

nope, you're stuck with 'transform again', but you could select more of the clones each time you do it to speed things up.
