Do you guys know how to back-up emails from the Mail as I want to format my laptop.

just copy your user library and replace the mail prefs after you'ver resinstalled your OS.
i've had to do this a few times and have never lost any info... all your safari bookmarks and stuff are in there too.
you might want to just copy your enire user folder and the os library folder just to be safe... i usually do that.
