can anyone refer me to a good 20" lcd monitor they like? I'm currently looking at Dells and Viewsonics. Are there any good ones out there that I'm missing, thanks!

damn those are expensive. You could be a 20" CRT for less than a quarter of that price.

cool thanks. Yes I was looking at this as well. I cureently have a dual monitor set up on my pc. Will this get rid of that?

the small footprint of my new Apple 20" and the free workspace it created on my desk made it worth every penny.

thanks jox. I kind of don't like the idea of the black borders around the monitor. Some real estate is being sacrificed and yes the Cinema displays are very pricey indeed, but nice.

Decsions, decsions...I know I said that these we're a little pricey ( I have to stop looking at the 23" & 30" display), but would these require a special video card?

cool soda. I maybe looking for a response time of less than 25ms. I confess I am a gamer as well.

20" and 23" are PC compatible.. should cover most decent video cards.
the 30" needs a new card only available for Mac atm.

The formac ones aren't necessarily with a black border. You can go with white or transparent.

paying apple prices is crazy... i'd be shocked if they didn't just buy the same commodity LCDs that everyone else does. if you really like the apples, find out whose LCDs they buy, look for who else is buying them, and check their product out.
shit, i bought a crappy 17" for like $300 at staples and it works great for me. $1200 for a monitor is nuts.

Depends on what you use them for. I have dual formacs for video editing and they have the best pixel response out there. Some people consider them ugly... I am very happy with them.

Formacs are teh haute!
But then again, I still prefer the old transparent cinema displays over teh alus.

yeah and I notice the price has come down on them since I got mine! OUCH

i'm working on a Formac 20" LCD monitor and it's really nice. touch-sensitive controls, and no dead pixels. the colours are brilliant and rival those of the apple LCD screens. the design isn't half bad either.

Formac 'design isnt half bad either'
yes... it is FULLY bad.
