idea for a one pager. not really happy with it. trying to come over a bit more commercial to attract more clients here (yeah, it's the way it works here *sob)..
the black area is still open for ideas.. some flash animation or whateva??
the rest is portfolio items.. 4 sample-pics per block.. you get the deal.
now burn it.
than Q.

it looks nice. very dutch. so there you go.
what fonts are you using?
- instantok0
i'd say ditch the wood & the arrows...other than that i dig it...the narrow layout gives you room to add nice little subnav items in the right or left columns...nice structure

i like the wood.
- DutchBoy0
why is it dutch? because of the orange? i would really like to know, because it is good if it does.. i guess.
the logo is Clarendon (with a modified b)
the other text is Din.
then the rest of the site will use Verdana 9px and 10px.

yeah i want votes on the wood.
the reason i really wanted to put it in is not because of the trend but because i am a sucker for interior design and i love anything woody.
err... with wood.. na meen?

wood always goes well with a dull orange color. i agree on the dutch look. the typography mainly is what gives it a dutch feel.
- _salisae_0
reasons it looks dutch:
clean lines
font choice - type design
limited color palette
sophisticated layoutbeing that you normally do furniture/interior design type sites i'd say hold on to the woody - er - wood.

my honest opinion is, its been done. mabe a client would visit it, but it wouldn't keep me interested. for a one page layout its abit to much aswell. why are people here so affraid of trying something new.
- instantok0
right now i think the wood seems a little arbitrary...itgoes well with the color but doesn't tie in with the other elements to me...maybe if there was some sort of different transition between the wood and the orange or if the wood is referenced in what you do with the black box or the footer or something...with how minimal the rest currently is it feels kind of stuck on there
- DutchBoy0
cool. cheers.
but i am breaking my head over what to do with the black area.. i used to have a lot of text there on a wood background but it became too heavy and messed up. And i have a feeling that most potential clients are not interesting in marketing-esque blahblahblah...
any ideas??
- DutchBoy0
"being that you normally do furniture/interior design type sites i'd say hold on to the woody - er - wood."
eh?
i have never done one..
i am just a sucker for it, that's all.
my dream is to design some interior one day...
oh well..
thanks though!
- Help20
is this layout like a gallery? are you using php? do you need a php resize script I just finished one for a client?
- DutchBoy0
instantatok,
i am planning to repeat the wood element somewhere.. the black box was wood at first... but it did not look ok...
- instantok0
i gotcha...could be nice repeated in the footer...
didn't you just redo your site tho?...it's still pretty nice...what sparked the redesign?
- _salisae_0
sorry. got you confused. not sure who i am thinking of.
not that they do interior design - they had sites that had a lot of images of furniture and interiors.
coulda sworn it was you.
apologies!
- DutchBoy0
ah, yes, salisae, must have been that site for a cottage for rent..
anyway, my current site is rather dull and the folio items are all over the place.. not really following a grid structure..
- imakedesign0
love the work DB, keep it up. Keep the wood and orange. good luck with the black space, looks hard to fill.
- abstrakt0
i do have to say, the top half is more interesting than the bottom. but content should take care of that.
- DutchBoy0
i sure hope so, abstrakt.
*fingers crossed
;P
- DutchBoy0
and thx imakedesign.
