ohhno, Its friday night and Im working on some print stuff...
I need you to explain the overprint fill function in illy for me!
The thing is im making a black back (40, 0, 0, 100) with a gradiemt logotype on top, like:

No. Don't put overprint on the gradient-logo.
Explain Overprint?
Uhh Something like this:
100% yellow background.
Box ontop with 100% cyan fill + overprint.
Result: The Box will be 100% cyan + 100% yellow = Green.

Don't overprint the logo.
As long as your background contains values of the gradient you should be fine. your black value really should be 30 30 30 100 so that you get a really rich black (advice given to me from a printer friend)
There's a great book called "Production for the Graphic Designer" by James Craig. Good resource to answer these types of questions
