which logo? Suggestions ?

Hi everyone. I'm in the middle of redesigning my logo. I'm wondering which one you believe may be more functional and or up to todays times. Chances are I will add colour to them, but I want to keep it basic b/w right now.

I like the one on the left but I think you need to bold hte type or use a heavier typeface.
The one on the right looks like a logo for a cleaning detergent.

That exists already in the world somewhere, on software I think.

I want to kind of depart for using direct imagry of a lighthouse even though I am still using the "beam" from one. I find the the word "lighthouse" can be looked at as a tad religious and I don't want to end up going that way (not that there's anything wrong with that.

Yeah, I think they are too simple. I had to check because that symbol looks close to my power companies logo. You could do much more with this. Try to incorporate other ideas like a lighthouse with the type to create a classic type of design. I'd find some examples but I can't be arsed at the moment.

I like the left, but it need serious work.
I don't care for the mark - its cartoonish next to the serif face.
Also - you've got problems with the word "design" - it doesn't center right and the "g" descender is clashing.

you need to hindge that light off something that makes sense..
