I do... this is why,
I have about 2 hours of actual work to do each day... a good day could reach 4 hours... whoa. Now some would say thats great, that leaves you time to work on other things like your own stuff... well that sounds great other than one of the people here has a flip out if you're not working on "office" material... said person starts the day at around 12-1pm everyday.
Now I would love to leave but with my location design jobs are not a plenty... few and far between to be exact. Unfortunately I'm stuck here for another 8 months here until my girl and I move on to a new locale.
Atleast the snow is falling and the mtn is opening on Saturday and being that no one shows up here until 12-1pm I should be able to get in a good 4 hours every morning.
So that's my story... what's yours?

alternatively you could also work really really really slow and/or work on a really really really slow computer to stretch those two hours to a complete day.

haha... true, my tactic is that i surf when no one is around and when people come buy i have a file open and ready to click on so it looks like i'm busy... funniest thing is they have no idea how long it takes to do anything, so i can be like "ooh, that ad resize is gonna take a day"

chedda: we done, time to head to Vancouver... its gonna be sad to leave but I have to get back into a studio scene before I slit my wrists... so 2 design jobs should be available here then.
MIJA: C1RCA is produced out of San Clemente and all of our old snow brands were as well... up here we do almost all of the domestic and international advertising and marketing as well as distribution.

well it seems like a lot of people like their jobs... or don't care to complain.
i envy you all, i was once in your position... i loved my job but not the city it was in.

wow what kind of place do you work at? I thought I was the only one in this predicament; 2 hours of work, 2 to 6 hours of surfing hip hop and design sites online, and in between all that dealing with dumb wierdo office product/copy customers from out here at the beach. I work in a mom & pop office supply/copy shop that offers full service graphic design services; which I rarely get any real design projects. Mostly I setup & layout buisness cards, print, scan, etc. stuff for people. I graduated in Dec. 2002 and this was all I was able to find. There hardly any design jobs here in north Florida either. I had an interview for an internship at an ad agency a few weeks ago so I am waiting on thier decesion on that. Maybe one day I'll be a real graphic designer haha.

My job sucks because I'm the production bitch. I've been told that I will be given more design projects and never get any (for the past year or so). It really pisses me off and I can't take it anymore. My personal opinion doesn't carry that much weight in critiques, and I'm not included with the rest of the group (I work with 5 other people) when projects are being discussed. Fucking lame.

i bet nick hates his job cause he has to make the banners for the most day.
i had to do that before and i hated it.
i wouldnt do it full time. in hungary we have government placements. at least not going up in a long elivator ride for much time.
