You've started me again!
Damn right about the coach and damn right about English football cleaning up.
You heard what he said about Thierry Henry I assume.
- kezza_20
no. enlighten me :)

Its not an easy thing to forget, a few hundred English fans destroying your national stadium throwing chairs at young kids and shouting racial slurs.
But I do agree England have cleaned up its act, but with a track record like theres they are bound to be scrutinised
- kezza_20
It was that night that changed everything.

Strange the way we have never met in a friendly or tournament since that night. I think it would be a great game and a great way to burry the hatchet.
The England Ireland rugby internationals are always a great session in Dublin.

Dont look to england sayn we are bad, people look to themselves and sort their own house out. I havent heard mass group racism at football in over 10 years. Its was audible watching it on telly at home, an absolute joke. The england captain should have taken the team off the ptich. Englands working to get its house in order the rest of europe needs to start and stop pointing the finger at us, look at the violence and the holland vs germany games.

well said kezza...
at least its probably fucked their chance at hosting the olympics... not great hearing the chants while seeing Madrid 2012...
Also, good on rooney for being a bit firey... need some bloody backbone in that squad.

No question, England should have walked.
I was livid watching that shit last night, unf*cking believable!
Walking off would have got much more coverage and brought the problem fully to light.
Spain/Italy and all other non-multicultural footballing nations need to take a long hard look at themselves right now!

The Spanish press barely covers the racist chanting...

Toe-nee it had nothing to do with how shit we were last night.
I understand why you would react like that towards England, I have been ashamed of following England in the past. But as Kezza said, it doesn't happen anymore, apart from the minority that you are going to get in all walks of society.
The monkey chanting last night was appalling. Worse than I have heard anywhere else.
What made it worse was it happened in the U21 game the night before and the Spanish Manager is a racist cunt too (he was recorded calling Henry a black sack of shit but refused to apologise for it)
As you said John Barnes had bananas thrown at him. That was the best part of 15-20 years ago now, we've moved on thank fuck. It's appalling that some parts of europe haven't.
It had nothing to do with the game last night and is no excuse for how poor we were, it's more than that. Bigger than that.
Fuck the football, they should of walked off the pitch.

soccer attracts a lot of pricks.

There was talk last night of Madrid wanting Wright-Phillips to play for them, can't see him going for that that when he gets that kind of abuse over there.
Spain = England about 20 years ago.

" Spain/Italy and all other non-multicultural teams"
WTF are u talkin' about?
By the way, the only people behaving like swines in Lisbon's main plazas, during the EURO2004, were the english fans.

All those using this as an opoprtunity to criticise England - did you even see the match? or even know what went on?
How some of you manage to turn everything into "fuck it, it's England", I do not understand.
Been a Leeds fan all my life, but wud never dare go to Elland Road as a kid, being of the brown persuasion. That shit is shocking and fucked up. It was like the entire Spanish fan base was making monkey noises every time a black player touched the ball. And they were coming out with the same shit when the under 21s were playing - yet the Spanish FA refused to aknowledge anything wrong. Not to mention the Spanish coach calling Thierry Henry a "black shit". Apparently it was taken out of context, but exactly how many contexts is that language acceptable? Unless he said "I hate racist mother fuckers who wuld refer to a black player like Thierry Henry as a black shit" it is pretty fucked up.
This isn't about England, so stop dragging English hooliganism into a completely unrelated matter; you're making the Spanish fans sound credible. I thought this shit was reserved for Eastern Europe and Greece, but the Spaniards and Italians at least, are just as bad.
- de4k0
It was absoluletly fucking shocking.
England were shit yes, but fuck me if this isn't 2004.It didn't help that the game was open for anyone to turn up at the stadium and buy tickets at the door for about £5, this meant any tom, dick, and harry could turn up... and they did and fucking hell what a bunch of bullet heads.
Usually at any top class club game across Europe, Real, Barca, Man U, AC etc You only have access to games as a season ticket holder or are invited by a season ticket holder, or you have paid a fortune for the privelage. You only become a season ticket holder if you fulfil certain criteria, and therefore you generally only get true lovers of the game at matches week in, week out.
it was a fucking embarrassing night, for english football and humanity.

a loss is a loss is a loss.

I'm not apologizing for the spanish fans.
What i'm saying is that even tough english fans seem [fortunately] to behave in an educated manner while in the UK, the same doesn't happen when they travel abroad.
The last game I saw here [live] with FC Porto vs Manchester United is one example.
I tought Porto fans were really dumbfucks. MU's soon changed that perspective.
- josimarX0
It was shameful but,
I thought the bbc would have had more control over the volume of the crowd than they did – they should have just turned it off. The commentators didn't help by talking about it for 90 minutes either – I got the feeling thy were trying to divert attention from the fact that eng-er-land were pish.

When in Rome, do as the Romans. hehehee ;)

It was pretty dire. But, who really cares when all the old England fucks in Football are racist? How many times do you hear people being called niggers on TV and Radio?
Lead by example an all that... And this is not the first "chant" that was not 100% PC is it?
Personally I think the Ref should be able to halt the match in this situation.
- smellvetica0
watch rugby it's a far superior game and all the agro gets taken out on the pitch.
none of this nancy falling over and pretending that you've hurt an eyelash too. don't get me wrong i do like football, but it's so vain and pretentious at international level.
