best since illmatic?
- ricstultz0
I've totally been waiting for Nas to drop his God complex and make another ace album... high hopes on this one.
Nothin can touch Illimatic tho.
- hopper0
I remember '94 - nas dropped illmatic & biggie - ready to die.. on the same day!!
hard to pick my fave..
- ricstultz0
Ready to Die is an insane album also... nothin can beat 93 & 94 hip hop.

i've listening to a nas mixtape i made, with most songs from illmatic, about 2/4 songs from each of his following albums plus the bsides and freestyles, and if you concentrate on the stuff he did right as opposed to wrong, he's one of the best of all time no question. if all u included was his best songs, you would have 3/4 solid albums...but hey, that's what mix tapes are for! Right now i got "understanding" on repeat:

how's disciple?

yeah I aggree he's def one of the best mcees.. remember when he first arrived? he was the new rakim etc etc but i dunno what happened after illmatic, patchy albums. Illmatic is lean.. no flab.
- aliendn0
yeah his 2r albums after it was written are 80% filler and production is so bad u dont even want to listen to the lyrics/flow...but every album has at least 2 classics minimum. and the lost tapes had some good stuff.
but his absolute best verse EVER is in verbal intercourse, so smoooov! (rae's track):
- ricstultz0
I think dude just got his head blown up by all the hype... plus he left the street.
so I don't own anything beside Illimatic... the rest is just Nas talkin tuff. Some of them have good tracks on em, but you sure do need to wade thru a bunch of shit to get there.
Love "Doo Rags" tho.
- hopper0
verbal intercourse... forgot bout that track. classic!!! great verse, and RZA was ontop of his game
- aliendn0
when i get home i'l post the tracks that i compiled for the mix
- ricstultz0
I just got Linx on vinyl... another classic from that era.
- aliendn0
rainy dayz is my joint off that one...and incarcerated scarfaces...oh wait ice cream is on that one too right?
i thought bobby digital (the first one) was slept on, i loved it.
- hopper0
yeah, Ice cream is there... I like crimonology, where the track jus turns intrumental half way through. read interview with RZA, he said Rae got all his best beats for that album..
- ricstultz0
Yea, Rza was at his peak there. I never really dug the first Bobby Digital tho. Tried so hard too. The cover art was some of the best in recent memory tho.
Ready to Die... best hip hop album cover ever.
- hopper0
RZA was knocking them out... Tical, return to the 36 chambers, liquidswords, only built for..
bobby dig seemed to be a concept too far.. a few good tracks though. nowhere near gravediggaz!!
- motokiss0
Got the new Nas. Its good its not classic but its solid. I feel the double disc could have been one great disc no need to be a double album.
- ricstultz0
Double... that sucks. So that means its gonna be like 3 Lps. sheeeeit.
- motokiss0
ya i know i wanted to get it on wax to but fuck shit will cost like 40 bucks. We will see theres still so many records i still wanna get. I will just wait for ebay to post it.
- aliendn0
i think rza is/will be doing wonderful things in the future
what i dont like about bigname artists in hip hop these days in terms of albums is the lack of consistency throughout them, there's like 10 different producers on them. its like a compilation, not a cd u listend to start to finish. i want to hear an album that makes me forget that there's a fast forward/skip button. right now its handsome boy's latest
