Total speculation.
The sea floor is constantly shifting around.
Everyday we lose more and more of Jurassic-aged sea floor at the mid-oceanic ridges in the Atlantic. The two junctioning, side-by-side parts that are being subducted. So, in that regard, I'm not so sure this story has credibility, even though they place this in the Mediterranean.

dunno. could be possible. why not? it was mentioned in various dairies, stories and what have you more. anyways, troy was a myth for a long time as well untill it really was discovered. is there a bookie where i can place a bet?
