yeah nick. clients only like to see the stuffy stuff. I've changed my style and it has gotten corporate boring.

chuck probably has clients come to him because of the steez he pushes. thats the key.
you cant just force your own style onto clients, doesn't work that way.

If you sport a style long enough...clients will come looking for it.... and if not, at least you'll have some tight ass work you can stand tall with.

That happens to all of us, that's why doing things like the DIK thing and all those online design comps are great 'cause there is no client involved. But in the end you have to learn to deal with clients and eventually you'll be happier and in due time you'll get your break. Chuck is a very talented guy and his client work is fantatsic, it makes it seem like we all should be getting paid to do wicked work, but unfortuantely some of us really have to work hard to get there.

stank you for the words. I have gotten really lazy as of late. But seeing nopattern's work kinda made me fire up inside. Don't know how to explain it. But I feel excited about design again.

Don't look at it like that. Represent yer steez win big prizes, get lot's of bitches, become the envy of all your friends. Anyhow, this industry will chew you up and spit you out if you can't compete.

do it man, rediscover that sketchpad, start scanning again, start experimenting with different techniques in photoshop and illustrator. smoke a j, pump some tunes, and jam.

yes, it is ok that Creativity calls it "compelling eye-candy." They are Creativity magazine. they can call it whatever they want. that review has already gotten me some new work and contacts.
and to aryena(sp?)....dude, listen.. you either WANT IT BAD or you dont. there is no halfway. there is no medium or in between. either you want to hurt peoples feelings and strive to be famous for it, or you can be stuck feeling moderately mediocre forever. "dont want to be rich, dont want to be famous." well, so much for having something to shoot for...
and one last thing..someone said "some of us actually have to work hard to get clients/work." i do take that as an insult because i have in fact worked my ass off day and night to get where im at. this life didnt just fall onto my plate.

Dude, I sincerely did not mean it that way, I was struggling to word my response properly, but obviously fell short. I just meant that it's obvious that you are 1 in a 10, 000 in terms of your craft. You've obviously been blessed with a keen eye for detail, a mind for creative execution and you're obviously a mad talented illustrator. My point was that some of us have it, others don't. Some of us work tirelessly and we can never obtain someone elses skills or natural ability. I'm sure you have worked your ass off to get where you are. I have nothing but respect for you. Cheers and sorry for coming off that way.
