ok
updated from MX to MX2004, and im starting to really not like 04!
trying to copy & paste text from Word to my page in Dreamweaver, but DW is trying to keep the Word formatting, I want it as plain text I dont want HTML font tags and all the rest
anyone know how you stop this? ive tried the help files
I really dont want to have to paste the text into a somthing previous to pasting into DW

the best way to take care of this is to paste into notepad, then copy/paste into DW.
the only workaround i know of for this 'feature'.

I have no problem copying & pasting text....dumb question but you are pasting the text into the 'code view' ?
- instantok0
some nice new little things but SLOW as the dickens
- MACAS00
Design view is all about keeping whichever formatting there is on what you're pasting
On the other hand
Code view is plain text if you know what I mean!
I thought every designer knew that, and I'm not a designer.

so many things they have changed/moved/added, now I know why i never updated :(
no im not pasting into code view
there must be a preference somewhere to disable this!? its crazy, MX never tried to do this, it just pasted as plain text ready to be formatted in CSS

thats annoying, i could paste text into the 'design view' in the previous version without it doing this
oh well,
thanks

i tend to avoid touching the design view at all as a rule...i just use it as a quick preview...too many times i've accidentally dragged something or clicked something and it resets widths and heights and gets all wierd...copying and pasting is just another annoyance with it

Here you go:
Edit > Keyboard shortcuts
> commands: Menu commands > Edit:
paste formatted
paste HTML
paste text

I was just as pissed when I installed it, but realized it's the best DW to date.
Hey.. I just accidentally found out how to sort the file list, that was one of the annoying little things that should've been simple but I had no clue how to deal with them..
The thing that I still can't figure out is how to change the default file extension .htm to .html

whaddya mean by sort the file list, mine seems to be ok
i kno what u mean, im sure 04 will grow on me, its just what u get used to huh

"whaddya mean by sort the file list, mine seems to be ok"
The tiny 'files' panel - try to sort the files by date or type. For months i thought it wasn't doable ;)
- blackspade0
oh i see
yea i miss the larger files panel in MX

the thing with MX 2004 I don't like is how the toolbar now runs along the top of the screen, no option to have it the old way, and like every thing else in the MX suite (and Adobe's apps for that matter).
other than that, no real issues for me.

I try to swrve design view, as said above use it for previwing. When I've imported Word docs. into code view Commands>>Clean up Word HTML works very well, if r-e-a-l-l-y sl;ow on big docs.
(MACASA---can tell you not)

Hey! Come back! How do I sort the file list?!

ok. but I want to actually SEE the file modified date.
is that asking too much?
