im always in search of slow, intimate jazz records.. but always end up getting jerk-off-stuff..
any recomendations? preferably sax, or female vocals..

A few songs on Dexter Gordon's album "Go" are like that. I love the kind of jazz that is only perfect for a rainy, big city day. The kind of jazz that's perfect for most of the rainy city scenes in Seven.

Also, you might check out these two Miles Davis albums:
Sketches of Spain
In A Silent Way - the last track is amazing, makes me think of some primitive version of some Mogwai songs or Godspeed! You Black Emperor.

the original
"Cry me a river" - Julie Londonor
"Idle moments" - Grant Greenor some slow Amy Winehouse stuff

idle moment's first song is nice.

Dinah Washington had one of the best female jazz voices of all time.
"Since I Fell for You", for example, is a great song for quiet evenings.

It's kind of progressive but "Isotope 217" can be slow and jazzy.

Les McCann
=====
... Layers (1973) . The latter was a revolutionary, improvisational experiment that included 15 musicians and one 27-minute song. Les McCann helped pioneer the use of electric piano, clavinet, and synthesizer, starting with this work which was one of the earliest electronic jazz albums.
