sorry guys but the thought of having a "design" show sounds like a complete bore to me. Yes, we might be commercial artists who can execute to briefs but christ I find most "art" shows to be boring let alone a bunch of geeks generating "design" for exhibition.
"oooh my look at the kerning in that piece.. powerful!"

dick.
don't deny your geek heritage.

if its going to be a website... you might a well just make it a thread of here.

hmmmm. Interesting. If someone is willing to curate it, drop me a line. I'll send somethin in.
Could be fun times... there are more than just "designers" on here....

I am proud of my geek heritage.
But, isn't the whole idea of Newstoday an ongoing collaborative worldwide group show anyways?

"But, isn't the whole idea of Newstoday an ongoing collaborative worldwide group show anyways? "
Sorta, but there really isn't that much collaboration.
And ric, yes, it would be more than design, it could be illustration, painting or photography, whatever.
But anyhow, the consensus is that it's a wack idea so I'll drop it.

true.
I guess most of us here that can colaborate probably already do, but a group show/webshow could maybe bring together those of us who are disconnected other than here at NT.

i am down, but do it on the interweb. not in an actual location, NT is all about internet connected geeks, so it'd be rather odd to have it in a physical space....

Definitely web. That is the whole essence of NT, web based community. I would do it on the web. Organize the peices by style or medium (i.e. Web, Identity, Print, Photography and Painting...maybe even an advertising section for those of us who do ad work). Make the name of the designer and information about the peice very secondary so as to really push the idea of community and unity. Could be pretty fun. Is there going to be any quality control?

The only thing about doing it on the web (typing that just made me giggle inside) is then it really is just like the Computerlove exhibition thing.

i had rough sex with the internets once. i almost broke it.
- usrper0
i say we just do this thang
- usrper0
it can be in as many cities as possible, in the same day!
- rasko40
interweb site will not work, its just not interesting.
What you need is to have some organised and motivated people, one in say NYC, one in London, one in Sydney, one in Berlin, or something like that.
Then a theme is formulated along with a format, b&w A3 maybe, and people submit work via email.
The work can then be reproduced cheaply and synchronised exhibitions take place on a global level.
Expos are likely to be unsynchronised so photos could also feature in the later running shows of the shows previous.
And at the end we can all beat off and bukkake fest on •••••••

Seriously, it ain't that hard.

i'll submit something if all of you fuckers put your heads together and make it happen.

I think is should happen both in "real world" and the net, and they can both open on the same day, on there has to be some sort of entrance fee for the artist so we can print and frame these things, but I'm down to curate in philly or at least look into it.
- DutchBoy0
i am in, only if it is done on the int0rwebs..
i live in a fucking nomansland here fer chrissakes..
- mr_snuggles0
Yep, TNDAP good points. I'll help on the Toronto end. I know quite a few different print houses that might be into sponsoring/outputting some shizza.
- ricstultz0
too many online galleries... but if yall want to put together a real live show I'm way down.
Should take a head count and see who can provide what.
