I am interviewing for a "Digital Designer II" position at a large design studio with large clients.
My last job title was "Interactive Art Director" - salary was 55k + benefits.
What's going rate for a Digital Designer II? US currency.
Any suggestions?

55k for an art director seems low. tell them you made more :)

I dont even know what a 'digital designer II' is.
I guess its something to do with designing digitally, twice.
I figure your salary should be double then.

Dude rasko - you're killing me over here!!! That is hillarious.
I am not wuite sure what the hell the title is either, but from the description, it is VERY similar to what most places call an Art Director...

they give it a strange name so they can pay you less ;)

Are sure they didn't already have an ad for a digital designer but needed another one so put II on it?

i didnt think any of you under 30 had degrees :P
- praktiv0
Tara|Gee - I live in Austin.
Canuck - Designer II is just below Sr. Digital Designer which is similar to a traditional "Associate Creative Director" position.
Anyone gotta an idea of a salary?

70k or thereabouts I would say for SF and New York but maybe lower in Texas.

Wish there was a good canadian source for web designer salaries. RGD is crap.

"Digital Designer II" sounds like it's just a design position (but for web, cd-rom, etc.) and it's the second tier. There is Designer I, Designer II and Designer III. I don't think "Associate Creative Director" is an alternative title for Digital Designer II...

The title is just a fluffy name the agnecy uses - find out what your duties are, who you report to - who reports to you, etc.... that's what your salary should be based on.
Just be honest - tell them what you want (ask for the high range, you can always go down) and mention you're motivation for a new job is to work with good people, do kick ass work, etc. so you are open to salary discussions and options.
