ok, so i have to admit, i use a pc, it's no secret. i'm doing a little reconnaissance work to figure out what windows is doing right before i implement it in our macs. xerox just isn't pushing the envelope anymore.
ANYWAY, the question is, why is it that there are two cursor speeds when i drag my mouse? if i move it at a normal to fast rate, it moves as i would expect, but if i move it slower, it's almost like slow motion and it takes forever to get to the icon/button i'm trying to click/push!!! how aggrivating! my programmers are off for the day, so is there a way to turn this off??? i just want the cursor to react the same no matter how fast i move the mouse!

system preferences>keyboard & mouse.
- SteveJobs0
no, that just sets the overall speed.
- gruntt0
to be honest I'm not sure what you're talking about. my cursor moves at a consistent rate of speed no matter what.
and you call yourself steve jobs.

imagine you are drawing a line with your mouse in photoshop. here are the results i get on my g4 powerbook running panther:
mousemovement slow:
_______________
cursor reaction
_______mousemovement normal/fast:
_______________cursor reaction
_______________make sense?

it's the sensitivity.. basically, an easing of sorts. same things happened with honda accords in the early 90's ... speed sensitive steering.
not sure if there's a way to turn it off though.. pain in the butt i think. (i think today's gonna be my mac bitch day... i hate having to use 'em)

turn the accelleration off ya ponce.
- SteveJobs0
funny, most mac users are oblivious - but get someone with 8+ years pc experience and they see the difference immediately:

"turn the accelleration off ya ponce"
and where is this done? i'm not running jaguar yet.
- SteveJobs0
and just look at responses on how to fix this issue from mac users:
-throw it out the window
-get a 3rd party mouse
-live with it. it works for us!

bumpee for the afternoon crowd.

Its acceleration and it is GOOD. It's meant to be more intuitive, reacting not only to movement but speed of movement, for a more natural responsiveness...or something.
You are just not used to it having used 'linear' mice for so long...give it a few days. Windows seems weird to Mac users too.
- SteveJobs0
i've given it more than a few days. 8 months is more like it. the problem is that i use my pc more than my mac, so i won't adjust. i tried the accellerated feature on windows and hated it. i just wish apple included an option to turn this 'feature' off instead of forcing people to use it since it's 'more intuitive'. 'more intuitive' is relative.

looks like its time to change your name to BillGates...
I notice no difference. I am mainly a mac user but have to use Windows everyday as well... I honestly have no idea what you are complaining about but good luck in all that...
- SteveJobs0
if you use a 3rd party mouse like logitech or any others, you won't know what i'm talking about anyway.
