i actually had to sell my soul to get the pwerbook - so i have to rely on common applications to save me now.

Ugh, i had two harddrives take a dump just weeks after one another and in 20 years behind a computer I've never had a HD crap out once.
So I guess I was lucky until then. Almost lost everything literally everything because the second drive was my backup drive. Then three days and a dos utility later my drive miraculously came back to life completely intact. You better believe I backed that shit up.
The computer is now officially dubbed Jesus because miracles do happen.

save it - booted from disk warrior cd. Everything was there just as i had left it. Disk warrior fixed the problem on the start up disk, been fine ever since.

yeah disk warrior saved my ibook.... the screen wouldn't even come on. Then I booted off a friends disk warrior, popped right up and ran some processes. Worked perfect since.
Gotta get a boot cd... It will fix just about everything.

huh, i doubt that ass-wipe as a tech depatment, you never know though ask him. but you might not want to refer to him as an ass wipe to his/her face.

gorbie. i have a similar problem on my current g4. i get a broken folder icon on start-up. i should get my disc warrior tonight.
i bought an ibook and all the goodies over the weekend and am going to try and fix the g4 tonight so i can get all my files and shit off it. i pray that i can fix it on my own and get it back up and running.

Kona.... try this first.
hook the two computers together with a firewire cable.
boot up the broken one while you holding down the "t" key
it will boot your broken pooter as an external hard drive, and hopefully you can just transfer the files by dragging them to your new one.
