For those interested, which one will you be purchasing?
Sony PSP or Nintendo DS?
Personally, I am still waiting for my ColecoVision handheld

PSP without a doubt, given Nintendo's track record. Plus the Nintendo looks like shit. And GTA for PSP!!!

being the loser i am, ive completely wified my crib. Mostly for work reasons but the thought of handhelds and wireless bloodspray was constantly lingering in the back of my dome.
yeah...um, im gonna go for both, its like asking which is better, ps2 or gamecube....the debate dosent stop cause your comparing apples and oranges

love the nintendo style of the ds- the psp looks real slick. both great. unsure.
ds will probably be more fun and different, rather then just running console ports. but the psp is so shiney. shiney is good.

well, provided I had the moolah to throw about, I'd get the PSP. Nice package altogether. could be the ultimate portible entertainment unit.

PSP for xmas hopefully!
battery life worries me tho.

I'm thinking of the DS. The psp looks like i'll get the screen scratched to soon. The DS folds down. Plus the DS will have better battery life. (the psp is reported to get 4-6 hours).
Also, the dsp has duel screens and touchscreen funtionality. This will give nintindo the possiblity to create new types of gameplay.

NINTENDO DS!!!
i could get into the reasons why i think it will be way better than playstation handheld, but i dont want to spend all day typing :P

what?!
i go to sleep and this is what you people do?
the nintendo ds is a joke! i'll bet anyone here it goes the way of the virtual boy. that's what happens when you make a console based on some lameass gimmick.
and all of its other lameness aside, just look at the thing. it's not even out yet and it looks outdated.
it looks like a goddamned hamburger.
- scarabin0
have you people even seen the specs and games?

I was just reading about the 185¥ price point in Japan for the PSP!!! That means, with any hope, that in the US it's going to be at, or around $200!
Way to compete with Nintendo. The DS will do extremely well, however. Nintendo has pretty much dominated the handheld market for years. But the PSP will surely make a name for itself. I'll have to get both.
- scarabin0
it's not 185 yen, the yen equals out to US $185, which is cheaper than the launch price of the gba.
they wouldn't even threaten each other, anyway. they're two different markets.

oh man, i can't wait to see the playstation handheld crash and burn!!!
:O
- scarabin0
damn, leah knows my buttons

considering the ds is fully backwards compatible with all original GB, GBC, and GBA games i don't think that there is really any comparison at all.
and as far as the looks go, if i want to show off how cool my gear is i'll whip out my new ipod photo :)
- mitsu0
whichever one has metal gear solid, resident evil, and final fantasy
- scarabin0
the psp makes your ipod photo look like it fell off the short bus.
it does everything the ipod does and more, including full video playback (almost all file formats), av in/out, 7.1 audio, MP3...
- scarabin0
and at 200 dollars cheaper.
you're gonna see psp in hip hop videos 'n' shit, watch. where is the ds gonna be? in the hands of elementary school children.
- -leah-0
scarabin you push my buttons too when you talk about the psp!!! it's so frustrating :P

i have to agree about the ds dual screen being gimmicky. i think the reason that the gameboy has ruled the handheld market is because it never really had much competition and it had a subtantial amount of 3rd party support.
now, everyone wants to develop for sony. and with a powerful system like the psp, nintendo is going to have to do a little better than a glorified flip-screen pda that plays mario party 13.

that's what I meant
