this really pisses me off. a woman whos spent 30 years of her life helping the iraqi people is taken hostage and will most likely be beheaded. if none of the iraqi people speak out against this and show some type of support for this woman, i'm seriously going to lose respect for anybody living in that country. the least they could do for this woman is show they don't support what these crazed murderers are doing to her, but obviously the iraqi people don't mind these rebels since they've said nothing about them. i've read ONCE about some intellectual iraqis speaking out defending their religion and saying the rebels are not following the islamic religion. ONCE. the only conclusion i can draw from this is that most of them support these terrorist groups. i better hear SOMETHING about some type of gathering in support of this woman. i understand a lot of them don't want soldiers from any country in their country, but this isn't about that. it's about a woman who dedicated her life to the iraqi people, who (judging from the previous 30 hostages) is going to be murdered.

there has been calls for her release from all corners. this has been from political corners and people on the street. a few days after there was even a protest at one of the hospitals she help set up - all the patients left their bed and made banners calling for her release. there has even been appeals from foreign arab intellectuals and politicians, just like with bigley. yesteday I saw another appeal from the irish govt with a joint statement from Nabil Shaath the palestinian foreign minister etc etc etc.

so don't dispair. people are doing what they can in the difficult situation

it is possible that the reporting of the situation is different over her as she is Irish
