- lowimpakt0

eh, needless to say that voting is closed now
- tny0
he's looking ancient
- kbags0
Maybe because he's a tyranical dictator who, for the last four decades or so, has kept his nation dirt-poor over a pissing contest with a dead US president?
- kbags0
Indeed, he is. I'm assuming his 73 year old successor brother won't change foreign policy.

i really don't understand how this could be humor of any kind.
- lowimpakt0
who's responsible for the trade embargos?
- unfittoprint0
tasteless.
and kbags, ever been in Cuba?
seems not.
the revolution [as the one we had here] was not a 'pissing contest'.
- lustor0
maybe if some country would lift sanctions that are imposed on cuba they wouldn't be a poor country.
- stewart0
humor? who's talking about humor?
it is World News.
it could have been the end of an era.
- lowimpakt0
on another note I saw an amazing documentary on the creativity of cubans. It dealt with design from necessity and found objects and all the amazing resourcefullness to counter the trade embargos.
there is a design exhibition on it although it was nothing on the documentary that showed you the people are far more inventions etc.
the results do challenge pre-conceptions of beautiful products and aesthetics etc but knowing what went into the design makes a lasting and emmersive beauty.
anyway
- kbags0
No, I cannot go to Cuba.
Embargos are how countries deal with each other when they cannot bridge diplomatic gaps.
I'd love to read more about this...maybe I'm not informed enough.

Cricket, cricket.

I'll take my case to the political thread, but let me say before I leave that when US presidents fall and break bones or get food poisoning, people think it's funny.
At least I learned something today.

a familly member had more chances with Cuba's medical facilities and doctors than in most places in Europe.
Astonishing how the main pillars of a State [justice, health and education] prevail with such an embargo.
90% of the world countries would not pass this test.
don't believe Fulgêncio Batista's scumbags.

not to mention a great educational system
