i'm making a portal page for a las vegas hotel, for customers that when they first log into the wirelss internet system there, this page pops up. (ads aren't mine, or finished)
knowing this, crit?

it looks like it's supposed to I guess...
... lots of 'stuff' everywhere... cuz of the damned ads.
I would possibly tone down all the outerglows and shadows a bit - there is ALOT going on in the header area too... multiple fonts etc. Perhaps clean that up a little and let the Ads make the mess.

that swoopy yellow line could be done better, looks a bit rough
lots of ads... i know thats the point but still, overwhelming amount of useless info is presented
- stewart0
wow, i don't know where to look first!
isn't the Hilton/Flamingo/Strip part the most important part of the site?
if so, MAKE it the most important part of the site.
- pablokorona0
everything kinda has equal importance.
client wishes to have header the way it is from a previous design. no control.
client's solution to problems usually is "drop shadow"
the phone number and the ads are the most important.
- stewart0
well, if everything is of equal importance, i would prefer looking at something with a structure at least.
why not devide it in groups with a headers so you can make a quickscan first, without having to read every banner before you reach the one you need...
- kbags0
You don't have to change the swoopy yellow thing, but can't you fix it?
Can you add some copy in there...or something other than banners to attract attention?
On the whole, I think I like it. But I'm easy.

you're right, i agree, but as soon as i tried to organize them into groups in the header it looks funny. The Hilton logo is odd to work with, and the Las Vegas Concierge is as well.
what do you suggest?
- kbags0
I suggest making those two logos LARGER if possible.
- stewart0
just try it and post again, okay?

no

wha-effah

i get the idea, but i have no idea what im supposed to look at. i guess its a pet peeve of mine when the sites own identity is lost/buried by intrusive advertising.

yeah. clean up the yellow line. just re-do over it, i saw it right away that it was a bit sloppy.
being a guy who frequents vegas i know the ads are the most important so i'm trying to ignore them, you really can't go anywhere in vegas without being overwhelmed by them. i'd design the page without them and clean/tighten that up first, then drop in the ads and let them make the page look messy.
basically just tighten the page wihtout the ads and make that work as a whole.
- pablokorona0
yeah, i'll fix the yellow too.
- pablokorona0
uploaded, now, what are your ideas of three headers?
- pablokorona0
I leave to fix schit, and ya'll bust.
i updated what i think is the final look.
thanks!
- stewart0
so you changed something?
- pablokorona0
placed the 1px tall line across the top, moved text near the phone # to the left side by the LVC & key.
redit the yellow bar, lost the additional number in the header to clear up header.. will mess with opacities of the other "junk" in the header to make it a little easier to look on.
