If we keep this thread going , do they make it blue and put 'VII' on the end of it?

just how far can they count in Roman numerals ribit...
Oh well. I don't get a vote. But I get to bitterly complain a lot and say I told you so.

BTW, unfittoprint, I wasn't so much pointing fingers at Portugal persay. I mean, some of the stuff I saw outside the US, those European countries might as well be ruling it, because they control every other aspect of the country besides inserting their flag and leadership heads. I tend to think that this is similar in concept to the US being in IRAQ. So when we critique this, why not critique those countries as well? Just a point. This needs switched to the Politics thread. Sorry. :)

"with an emphasis on establishing institutions and rules that promote values and goals which are shared by other major states."
i'm sorry but there are the promoted values and then the realities that are dished out.

Sure that was too generalized of a comment.

Giant multinational corporations have replaced governments as centres of power.

After the end of the Cold War, the appeal of American culture and values has become an even stronger element of its power. This is the vital 'soft' power -not hamburgers or MTV - that provides the legitimising foundation for US
leadership in the international system today.

I'm sorry ur entitled to ur opinion, no disrespect meant, but i can't help disagreeing with you. Sorry if that pisses you off... but that what you said is the exact same kinda bullshit the British and the French used to peddle, "we're civilising the barbarians, teaching them how to play cricket don't u know! white man's burdun and all that, wthat what, they shud be grateful cos we are so much more enlightened" etc..
- ********0
yo Jaz, not to piss u off or noffink, here's an interesting article regarding all that:
http://www.nybooks.com/articles/…
Not that i agree with everything he says in there, but he does bring up some interesting points on comparing the British/French superpower periods to the US psychosis today.

Kuz...I agree
- Icequeen0
what makes us any different from the 'barbarians' that we are supposed to be 'civilisng'?

The American voters show all the signs of Brain-Washed-By-The-Media so I am not surprised.

This should be in the politics thread
- Meeklo0
Does this really counts?
or is it just to have a view on what does the rest of the globe thinks? If they didn't respect what people voted in florida, do you really think these votes are going to be included on the election?
- pooch0
if that the case then everyone should be able to cast a vote for any country.
two way street slutz
- gabriel_pc0
this is a moot point, the US elections will only be voted on by US citizens. that will never change.
- pooch0
yeah what that person said.

Chill out guys. This ain't nothing more than a global opinion poll. No need to be all offended yankis. The US is an influential country and of course people are gonna have opinions on who'd they'd prefer to be in power. No need to be hurt just cos they express that opinion. You can have our own opinions on world leaders from other countries - if you know anything about political parties in another country that is ;)
