laurus brought up a good link quite recently let me see if i can find it.

my friend is finding that it's easier to do it in london rather than in israel or palestine. there's still problems with palestinians getting visas to get here tho.
one of the main places israelis go for partying is Sinai in egypt, that's all a bit fucked now after that bomb a few weeks ago. my ex-drummer was in that very hotel 6 days before the blast. fucking scary. and it's not just the israelis who get hurt - egypt's tourist industry has been struggling after the attacks in 96 and 97 and it will be shafted again now. there is so much poverty in egypt and so many ordinary people who will lose out from this.
- Kuz0
yeah vespa, and masses of Egyptian young becoming radicalised because of the poverty and everything else going on there. It's such a vicious circle in the region.
You guys should all check this link out and send it to as many people as you know:

anyone else see this last year?

Shocking to the core, carrying white flags with arms aloft, evidently unarmed and they get shot at with live ammunition. I've been shot at with rubber bullets before and that is scary as fuck, but proper real bullets when you're peacefully protesting??

Actually, it's 3 years. and the 1 month a year in reserve service until you're 45.
the link was:

unfortunately, the banner and jump page cost them more than what they raised in contributions.
many people like to critisize Israel, but not many will contribute anything to those who try to change it.

------------------------------who is organising this?
- vespa0
"5 MILLION PEACE MARCH is a initiative founded by artists and peace activists from Denmark."
- Kuz0
There's an artists collective in the studios above where I work and I was at their exhibition on the weekend. A group of Copenhagen artists had come over and had some of their work up. They had a poster of that as well. They're organising it. Check the contacts page on the site. Be interesting if they pull it off.

----------------------------:) cheers, I saw that. I was wondering about affiliations etc.
- vespa0
it would be amazing. especially if it all went off safely.
- Kuz0
The guys who did the exhibition were part of this group http://twenteenthcentury.com/uo/…
they're doing some really cool shit and are a very interesting bunch of people. They contribute to a magazine called Mute
http://www.metamute.com/look/iss…I dont think some philanthropic quango is involved in any of this.

well if they shoot 5 million foreign nationals they'd be in the kacka
although it hasn't stopped them when it's one or two foreigners in the refugee camps

I like the idea. i have loose plans to be in the region at that time anyway. but I want to see if there are any details for action once there, like cross border/wall connections between the youth, artists, musicians, community reps etc. etc.
Not being negative but look at the largest global mass mobilisation against war and what that did. it needs more that footsteps
but if this march increased networks, support and capacity, action and maybe some reconcilliation it would be a good thing

not that i justify Israel.
but why is Israel such a hot news issue?
In sudan hundreds of thausends are killed. in rowanda the rebels have amputated limbs of many innocent civilians. The basques feel they are occupied by france and spain, the curds in Turkey, Iran and Irak are treated worse, and even in egypt and syria uprisings were treated in a more severe manner.
not even 5000 people have been killed on both sides since the stant of the intifada. In terms of world conflicts nowdays, that's nothing.
So, is European guilt part of it? I'm not sure, but it's interesting.
Having said that—I very much oppose the Israeli government and am very politically active against it. I had my work burned, ripped and I've been personally attacked for opposing the occupation.
The problem is—the international pressure should be on both sides and on the surrounding countries. The pressure on one side makes that side feel cornered. The people of Israel need to feel that there is hope for them as well. Otherwise they will just keep ignoring the international community.
how do you expect Israelis to open up to the peace process, when many Europeans say that the existence of Israel is unjustified? where are these Isarelies supposed to go to?
so—try supporting the few on both sides who want peace, instead of attacking those that don't.
give people hope and the peace camps will grow on both sides.
