Ignore the cheesy as name for this thread, I couldn't think of anything better.
I was wondering, how many people, since you've installed the Adobe CS package, ventured into the world of GoLive as a alternative to the pimp, Dreamweaver.
I'm thinking of doing my new site in GoLive ... what do you think?
- rasko40
why bother? DW is better.
then again, I dont like anchovies but one has never passed my lips.
- stewart0
the CS package is shipping, so can experience the new features of GoLive next week.
but i'm still happy with DWMX.
- dfd0
You guys on Mac or PC ?
- davey_g0
I'm on a Mac and I use GoLive CS. Main reason is because that's what I learned on long ago and never migrated to DW. It works for me just fine...although can be buggy and sluggish at times on my G4, even though it's maxed with ram...

mac dual
Never had any problemo's with DWMX
well, except that you have to specify a root folder manually for every project.
if i duplicate a draftfolder for example, and rename it to sitedraft01, i have to reset the site root.but i'm sure that if i go look in the DW preferences i can shut those dialogueboxes up.

Nice. I've been using DW all along, but perhaps I'm going to try GoLive.
Appart from the root folder prob, what else should I consider making this temporary leap.
- unfittoprint0
don't.

Fuck WYSIWYG.
Be brave... learn to code.
- stewart0
yeah yeah yeah.
not everyone is as brilliant as you are DT.
learn to live with that.
- dfd0
too much code makes my weiner limp.
- tomkat0
I use DW, but basically as an edito. WYSIWYG only for checking. Might be that GoLive is the better WYSIWYG...
but then again..

These apps are used for more than just design you know...
Some people are producing content-heavy websites with GoLive/DW...we shouldnt have to code...ever. It's not our job...We just use the best tool we've got to layout our magazine...until we can afford a Content Management System.
- ribit0
btw... I bought GoLive CS, and have never been able to use it... It can't handle our site size (endless spinning beach balls), while GL6 works fine.
We're in the process of sending Adobe our site on DVD (4GB content, 400MB site file) for testing...
- davey_g0
I agree...soemtimes working in GoLive CS is a world of spinning "wheels of death" (beachballs sounds too friendly). So if you have a large site, have a couplke of extra drinks laying around to watch your screen for extended periods of time. Unless you are doing heaby backend or databasing WYSIWYG web apps do the job just fine.

"...WYSIWYG web apps do the job just fine. "
Not 'just fine', nothing beats them for production work.
- dfd0
so, for a simple, straight forward HTML site with some orgasmic CSS GoLive should do just fine?
