Looking for a typeface family with varying widths and weights (similar to Hoefler's Knockout series http://www.typography.com/catalo… )
Anyone got any ideas?

akzidenz, helvetica, sauna, gill sans, folio, etc. etc. etc.

Not enough variations in weight - I'm looking for something similar to a multiple master in terms of versatility. Knockout has plenty but it's not the style I'm looking for.

well in that case i have no clue. or have no understanding of what you mean. which is very possible. since my head is out of order today. what today? scratch that. make that the entire month already. yeah!

similiar in style or just because it has alot of weights? This won't probably be of much help but, one of my favourites at the moment even though Wallpaper* uses it: http://www.orangeitalic.com/font… also take a look at their other fonts. Good Luck.

Just like that yeah. Perfect example of what I mean here: http://www.pentagram.com/portfol…
Anyone know the typeface used there?

Looks like Paula is using Knockout there. Also possible she is using 2 or 3 faces that play well together. It's ussually not the type but how the type is used that counts.

Franklin Gothic ?

good call Franklin might work or maybe Meta FF.

Franklin Gothic is one of the only fonts I know that can hold up under horizontal and /or vertical scaling.
- ********0
public theater uses champion gothic, which is basically knockout with less weights

You could try Thesis:

We use it for a corporate client, I don't like it personally but there are 144 variants...
