I use a new Epson Expression with a transparency adaptor for slides and negs. The end product is nevere as sharp as the slide or neg and print quality isn't so hot. Does anyone have this experience. Any suggestions for a good slide/neg scanner?

most commercially available slide scanners suck, or i would have one...
i rent an imacon scanner at this place... for $110 per hour... steep but, the machine costs $40K. attached to a dual G5 and a 23 inch display, makes it alright.

I find digital cameras are easier for digital applications. But if you have to have large digital photos take the slides into a print shop and have then scan them at super hi-res

Agreed, send them out for scanning.

I was pretty happy with the performance of the Minolta 5400dpi slide/negative scanner... I've used it quite a few times.
