Anyone else see the documentary yesterday on Discovery about the company and people that flew the first commercial rocket into space last week?

Saw it last week. It was great, I love stuff like that.
Watched one recently on Disc about the competition between Boeing and Lockheed to get the Joint Strike Fighter contract. Very good show as well.

corporate space travel always a bad idea..,,,
trust me

The documentary really was very well put together. I don't know, I think privitizing space travel is great for expanding competition... but I'm not sure how safe it is.

on a serious note i didn't catch it. i spent all last week without cable an unable to watch anything at all. sucked. i was in need of the discovery channel and the debates. fuck you comcast bastards for screwing up my order.

++++++++++
it's good for rich bastards who can afford a trip to space.in the end good can come from it in terms of new propulsion, engines, aerodynamics and polymers/composits used to be modified for commercial use.

... plus a new club.
The 62 mile high club.
;)

wonder who the first one was to do it!
- -sputnik-0
i don't think the people paying to take that trip do so without considering the safety issue.
privatizing space exploration is a brilliant idea in more ways that one can count. unless of course you don't believe in competition, its benefits and drawbacks, capitalism etc...and there's a separate thread for that ;)

space is the pitch black anus that Armchair Astronauts would love to penetrate...a new priest class for the Plastic Age....space is space, get over it
