my cat gets underneath my desk and sits on the subwoofer. I usually don't notice her doing it - but she waits for the opportune time to attack my hand (because there's a tray that holds my keyboard and mouse).
She loves the subwoofer cuz it gets a little warm and it's the perfect perch for her to attack the mouse chord and my hand.
She doesn't go after the cursor yet - but she does attack my TV. I've kind of got her trained to sleep behind my while I'm working. I set up a little bed for her on one of my shelves. She can't get to it without jumping in my lap (then biting my nose before continuing on) then she climbs up me to the back of the chair and jumps up into her little bed.

My dog nudges my mouse hand with his nose just to remind me to take break and give him some attention. Clever fuckers animals

yeah mine does that too.. cept i usually have my laptop in my lap.. and she would pounce on my computer chasing the mouse... consequently turning off my computer most of the time.

that is cute abizzyman! My cat would do the same thing. Before I had a full time job a couple years ago, I did freelance work from home and was in front of the computer in my room all day long. She'd sleep for a couple hours and then be craving attention.
She loved, and still loves to perch with her front paws on the edge of my desk and chase the cursor around the screen. Yours do that?

awwwww...
If my cat hasn't decided it's 'bedtime' when I go to sleep - I usually wake up w/her snuggled right into my arms and chest.
She loves to jump in my lap and paw at my chest and just meow up a storm - then she give me a little love-bite on my nose then take off running.
Working from home would suck w/out my cat.

When my stepdad is working from home, he will still get up at a normal time, shower, get dressed as if he were going to the office.
It really helps to seperate from being the total slob you can easily be.

sounds like my cat. she likes to go to sleep biting my fingers. its cute sometimes shes totally asleep with her arms still wrapped around my hands.

I've been working from now for about 5 months...
... everything you guy's say is true... from curling up w/the kitty to becoming socially stumbled -
I feel overwhelmed most of the time and loose site of the fact that I still have to pay taxes on all of this stuff. I have a ton of work that is never-ending, which is very nice. But it seems like I never truly get that 'break' from when you leave work and head home.
I'm always at the beckoning call of either a client or an agency. It's starting to get old. I'm either going to hire an assistant - or start marking up my prices to weed out some of the 'junk' that just eats up time that could be better spent on clients who pay on time and are loyal.
... i'm going to go play w/my kitty for a few minutes - she likes to hunt me down and attack for about 10 minutes - then she just chills out and crashes in my lap for about an hour.

"I've been working at home for a few years. Yes, I know how to spend a day without getting anything done, just clicking 'Refresh' on NT. "
I do that in the office.

well I have been missing staying up late and looking out of the window and work in the peacefulness of the dawn time.
yeah I do have a job. but I think I am going to quit at the end of this month after 13 months.

I've been working at home for a few years. Yes, I know how to spend a day without getting anything done, just clicking 'Refresh' on NT. It's hard to discipline yourself sometimes. It's just wherever I worked, anytime I was going to work I had this thought in my mind: "just imagine how wealthy you'd be if you were putting these 8 hours of effort and commitment daily into YOUR business". Well.. as the song goes, I'm on my way of making it ;)

ah time to travel up north a lil every once in a while. there is a shortage of talent in LA. im sure you could work remotely.
SD has been pretty much dead after 2001. a lot of companies moved out of there. unless you have a nice cushy job down there that you can depend on... it seems that its sort of slim pickins down there.

" hmmm it seems really impossible to not be pretty busy if youre in southern california right now"
Shellie Im In SD, is it because Im waaaaay to south? :)
Im bussy, but not as bussy as I want to be, then again I been here for 3 years only and I dont know much people..

thanks for making meeklo feel like shit
- shellie0
hmmm it seems really impossible to not be pretty busy if youre in southern california right now. lately ive been busy enough for 3 people. but... ive been pimping myself around and communicating with people and design firms in the area for many years now and its just now paying off. lots of dinners, drinks, christmas parties, weddings, baby showers and all that crap.
but an agent helps if it ever gets slow. im looking forward to a slower winter so i can do a little snowbaording, but if im hurting i could always tell her im available and get me in an office somewhere. but really it looks like for freelancers it wont be slow at all this winter. seems like there will be a lot of 1 off work.

"how do you guys look for clients?"

- Meeklo0
"hmmm.. im pretty overloaded with work. there seems to be an abundance here in california."
Im in cali too..
- ad10
i became socially strange, kept very unhealthy hours and snacked way too much, among other things
hehe TRUE trick is to keep no food in the house and eat out with friends as often as possible
- shellie0
hmmm.. im pretty overloaded with work. there seems to be an abundance here in california. i have an agent but i havent yet had to use her.. ive kept busy on my own. 30-40 hours a week at my regular freelance rate.
- Meeklo0
4 th month and counting..
I hate now knowing if I will be paying rent the last week of each month..
how do you guys look for clients?
