PS Filter grayed out

  In Photoshop, I've applied a drop shadow to a logo.

  In the layers palette, the "eyeball" for the logo is black but the filter's eyeball is grayed out.

  Thus, the drop shadow doesn't show up in the layout.

  Anyone know how to remedy this problem?
