No problem, you'll settle in, if you're looking to get a house and have kids and all that. Then you can't really go wrong. I left for London 4 years ago and haven't really looked back.
But I would check out the Eichlers in Orange and Santa Ana before settling. Great victorian houses in the 'old' parts of both. Plus being slightly closer to the beach.
Take a drive through Live Oak Canyon if you ever get a chance en route to Laguna Beach where you will have a fish taco for me at Taco Loco.

Try the London Broil. Don't let um give you any of that flank steak bullshit.

Probably the only culture to be found here is the surf culture. Not a lot of diversity, pretty unsophisticated place to live.
The weather can't be beat and there's lots of rich, fake hotties floating around.
Imagine small beach towns with an inflated sense of self-importance and a very clear line between "The Haves" and "The Have Nots"

I've only been to OC once and that was in Jr. College when we played Orange Coast Jr. College in the Simple Green Bowl in '94. I don't know about the area in general but I got called a nigger at least 15 times on that field by the OCC team. The only worse name calling experience I had was when we played against BYU at Provo; except that time it was by the fans...
I hope you're white! :D
