Hi all.
I reinstalled Panther a few weeks ago and I've been spending alot of time setting it up the way I like it. The other day... the Macintosh Address Book started acting funny. It launches ok... but when I click on any names I get the spinning rainbow. The activity monitor shows that it's consuming 98% of the cpu as it just hangs there.
I've deleted the prefs and restarted... same thing...
I've copied the prefs over from my old system disk... same thing.
I've deleted the data plist... same thing... argh
I'm desperate to fix it without having to reinstall my system. I spent too much time installing mySQL and shoutcast etc to start over now.
Has anyone else had this problem? Any known fixes?
Oh yah... I've also run techtool... and it comes up roses.
Any help will get you a free hug.

Hey, I'll ask one of my Apple Techs as soon as I see one walk through the door.
Hopefully they can give some answers.

I had the same problem a while ago, never found a fix for it and ended up reinstalling the system :(
There is a program that lets you install separate bits (packages?) of the system, can't remember the name though.

Have you disabled a system font perhaps?...

Actually... I installed a few fonts the other day and ended up with duplicates. So I trashed the duplicates. Maybe that's it.
