I think everything that go on in NT is very REAL and all NT's are very real - - flesh and blood, and I am thankfull to my computer/Internet to give me the chance to meet them. I think you came to the wrong place to post your idea, you probably should go to a forum in AOL or something...

well I think I agree with the point that the new generation just grow in front of the computer without deciding what they are going to do seeing nothing but a 2d screen.
do they need to decide, not necessarily, but it is a point. and I hope they are going oout too.

Could it be that some people just visit here because they're trying to avoid the boring middle'o'day bit of their life (aka work) and are actually exactly the sort to grab existence by the coattails and go "wheeeee!"?
Surely acting and drama are just as 'escapist' as the internet?

Hmmm.... I come to Newstoday for entertainment, hot links and info; not to avoid reality. I agree that there may be some people out there who lean on technology too much and it eventually becomes their crutch for hobbling through life, but that whole argument can be applied to so many other things. If I am on my computer a minimum of 10 hours a day, so be it. I'm supposed to step out of my office and stare at the parking lot and 10 other office buildings around me? But hey, that's the real world. Money makes the world go 'round. And if people choseto spend a majority of their time being media designers to make that money, then so be it. You don't see me showing up at the Vatican kickin bible's out of the Popes hands...

I feel the older I get, the harder it is for me to feel content sitting in front of a computer all day every day. I have been in the industry for almost 10 years now, and I have certainly learned that balance is key. Its just getting harder for me to find that balance. Monitor face is the new reality, and it has been forced on us, not just the creatives. I think alot of "gen-x" aged folks like myself will find themselves in their 40's, making big life changes, opening businesses, rediscovering hidden passions, and running away from the screen.
