you could easily grab movie samples that are at least 50 years old. They lose their copyright then.

yeah, more hand claps would be da bomb, yo.
And then some of Casio's pre-programed synth dog sounds. Then throw in a few lion roar samples and some laser effects. Aww Yeah, buoy.
But seriously, I dig the Shag Carpet tune, swarm.

BTW. not sure if you use something like Abelton Live! http://www.ableton.com/index.php… - which enables you to take any sample and resequence it at any tempo, even though the sample you've used is at a different tempo and do the same for all the other samples and tracks to combine them at one tempo. Pretty crazy. Pitch and Tempo shifting, etc.

thanks jpolk,
that was an earlier thing i did with an esquivel song. it's one of things i think overcompensated for not having vocals. i don't know if anyone would be able to find room to rap or whatever on it.

Yeah. Handclaps are awesome. I say put more handclaps in. Yeah that's exactly what it needs, more handclaps.
- stewart0
NOTHING wrong
with handclaps
and rimshots.
- DutchBoy0
i agree with rasko on this one.
and digitalswarm, yours has more atmosphere, but pleeezzze lose the damn handclap.. i HATE, simply LOATHE synthesized handclaps..

the nasality of Tricky's voice will fit for sure.
- JazX0
Not my style but keep pushing it, it's not bad rhythmically. Sounds a bit like Tricky style music. You might need somebody to song over it, not rap over it. A bit repetitive.

what mirola says. totally not bad at all. for a base it's solid. i think if you add vocals you'll automatically will create more breaks and chorusses making it less monotone.

joe, it's pretty sweet for about 18 secs then it gets tired quickly. i think it's a pretty top start though.
- stewart0
awful dissonances and tonality digitalswarm
but way deeper and atmospheric then joe's

Mind if I hop on your thread? Here's my latest beat:
- stewart0
at least add a bassline.
- joe_fritz0
i got tore up on that shit.
part of my problem when i make beats is that i always overcompensate for there not being someone doing vocals next to me. on this one i tried to make it simple enough that it would be easier to rhyme over. oh well, i'm still learning.
p.s. there was no shitty drum machine involved.
- stewart0
by the way, i used this software http://www.propellerheads.se it's great.
- stewart0
sounds like looped for 2:30
it's cold, flat, and even the end is a simple fade out.
i don't know anything about composing or creating beats and stuff.
but i did the beats on this with guitar samples of Yngwie Malmsteen http://www.kulsdom.com/fashionsh…so you can do better for sure.

"It don't mean a thing if it aint got no swing," and that shit doesn't have any. Its so choppy that its not listenable and it has absolutly no character because its made with some shitty drum machine or somethin... Dude, just go and dig some sick breaks to use instead of that shit.
