Great read.
Love the sex&cash theory part:
http://www.gapingvoid.com/Moveab…Most of us will recognize themselves in this writing.
on a sidenote:
"gee i am so loving my own PBS-posts today!"sorry for reposting them here everytime, just want to start some interesting talks.. it's sooo slow here during the weekends.

defintely a great read, especially as i begin a job search. i was thinking of trying to stand out from the crowd, but i'll take his advice and try to avoid the crowd all together. my only worry is prosepctive employers will think i'm insane. i might very well be, but i would rather they don't know it off the bat.

just bumping this because it's worth it!

it's cool but I don't actually agree with the 'don't give up your day job' bit

I read this a while back when first posted. A very inspirational; read, and at the same time disillusioning. worth a glass of wine and two hours for sure.

yeah, I read it and didn't really like the guy, but so much of what he said made a lot of sense to me on a personal level and professionally.
As for not giving up the day job, different folks different strokes I reckon. It all depends on what is rocking your boat, as long as the boat is rocking thats all that matters...did that make sense???
Liquid lunch *hic!

funny thing is, if you read his more recent blog stuff he has set up his own company since writing that memo.

I dont agree with number 7 either "day job"
if you look at who he chooses as his example .....they are all freelancers... or they have a job that affords them time)
Photographer...goes and shoots catalogs for a while.....
Writer... has to write the "occassional" newspaper article
Painters.... they obviously are already on their own...
All I know is that I have gotten invaluable experience from my job in the past 1.5 years..... but then I quit in August in a creative-drama-queen type fashion....and I have gotten more done in 3 months then in 2 years...
Although...I have one question...
- liquid0
how do you pursue a dream in something that you don't necessarily have the "talent" to pull off...... it requires convincing other people....
His 1st comment is ignore everyone... which to an extent I agree....
........wow.....lots to think about... {takes a smoke break}

I dont agree with number 7 either "day job"
liquid
(Dec 10 04, 07:21)and i agree with you.

things just don't work like"ever" or "never"...
it has some nice points but i wouldn't take it to personally.
- soda0
yeah, I know what you are saying.
I think what I took out of the day job point was if you have a real desire to do something don't wait for the job to come up for you to do it in just do it. Find time and make it happen.
I really like his attitude towards the 'doing' of making things rather than the end product. It's about the doing rather than the end product.
It's a healthy attitude to life...
As I said he has set up his own gig now so maybe he is planning on updating the list!

sex&cash theory.
Sounds more like bloody common sense theory.
