yea it's not directly g.design related although it is important for industrial designers and architects whether they like it or not. primarily in europe though.
We can expect far more urgent push for the directives such as the 'Eco-design for energy using products' directive and all that jazz

tho Russia may have its economic problems, they are still more progressive globally than the US.

some of Russias heel dragging was only because they wanted to reap the best benefits from their Siberian Gas fields etc. which is understandable
Anyone in the 'know' had little to question about if they would ratify more about when.
Obviously im interested in the trickle down effects (from how a strengthened Kyoto feeds into other policies etc.) for design and architecture but also there is some interesting strengthening of global alliances for the environment recently - beyond the political facades of the WSSD etc.
