Ok, so I've blagged myself a print job (quite a good one so I don't want to fuck it up) but being a web designer I'm a bit shit with some of it.
I'm doing a design thats to be used on an A5 flyer and an A3 poster.
The A5 flyer is fine, I can just about source imagery at a high enough resolution for it, the problem is getting images that are a high enough resolution to be printed on A3 at 300dpi.
In terms of pixel size the photos I want to use need to be huge unless I blow them up by 4 to 6 times.
Is blowing them up in photoshop OK or will it look shit??
Any help / advice on this would be grand.
Cheers.

i t won't look good if you blow up the photos that much, better start searching for those photos!

Ok so my next queastion is where on earth do you source photos at nearly 4000px squared??
I can't find images that size in stock libraries, never mind the obscure kind I need.

Take it yourself with a digital camera at a high enough res to deal with an A3 size.
or
Pay for it from a stock library, if it's a kick ass print job, then they should have the budget to cover it.
or
If you've got the image already, take it down to the local photography / production lab and have it scanned properly.
or
Photoshop/Illustrator here you come.

Genuine Fractals, a lifesaver

My God.!
I have just used "Genuine Fractals" plugin, on a 72dpi image 5cm x 6cm and resized it to 600dpi 18cm x 28cm and produced a perfect A4 print from the image.
All I can say is bloody amazing.

Bitmap vs. Vector. The issues in between can be quite tricky.
